Today e drove up to Camp Red Cloud to visit some soldiers that we have up there. Inside of one of the offices. We saw a peculiar sign. Now there is nothing extraordinary about it, but when Jung and I took a closer look at it we noticed someone familiar in it.

tn_DSC02666.JPG
Here is a closer picture of the sign. Does this guy look familiar? He should, because it's me. Jung took this picture of me when we were doing some training a few months ago. We don't know how the Army got it, but they did. I told Jung he should sue the Army for copyright infringement. Haha

tn_DSC02667.JPG
This was pretty funny. We saw this sign for the Equal Opportunity Person in Camp Red Cloud. Someone had pasted a sticker for a phone sex line above the guys picture. Oh the irony.

Mcgraw asked me to go with him to find a plant today. The guy has been obsessed with finding a Bonsai tree. Well, we went looking for one today. Along the way we saw this interesting sign. It's an advertisement for medicine made from dog.

tn_DSC02663.JPG
And here is a turtle remedy. Don't ask me what it's supposed to cure though. I have no idea.

tn_DSC02664.JPG
And then ther was this one madfe from deer. I don't know where they get the deer from since you'll never find on in Korea.

I spent half of the day in my room checking out collegehumor.com this morning, because I had nothing else to do. Then around noon, Fornillos knocked on my door to bring me a movie back and asked if I wanted to go to Osan with her. Well, since I didn't have anything else better to do, I said sure. McGraw joined us and we headed to the bus station to catch a ride.

tn_DSC02638.JPG
Here we are on the bus heading down to the air force base in Osan.

tn_DSC02642.JPG
We spent the day shopping. Osan is the best place to get cheap stuff. I got a few shirts and some gifts for my wife. Here McGraw is helping Fornillos pick out some hair accesories. Isn't that cute. Haha

tn_DSC02647.JPG
After shopping for a while I took us to a Mexican restaurant called Puffin's. Hightower introduced me to the place the first time I came to Osan, and I've eaten there every time I've gone back.

tn_DSC02649.JPG
After Puffin's we went to the Whiskey A Go-Go, which is a bar hat plays good rock music, and we had a beer. We didn't stay long because we had to get back to catch the bus heading back to Yongsan in an hour. On the way out, I took a picture of a note I had written on the wall of the bar back in April. It was still there.

tn_DSC02656.JPG
Here I am waiting at the bus stop. We caught the bus back and I stayed up late on the internet and watching episodes of Desperate Housewives. I'm almost finished with all of the episodes now. I hope the second season starts soon. I love that show.

Well, today we had a Newcomer's Brief. That's where the Chaplain's Office gives a half day class on everything in Korea to the new people who have just arrived in Korea. We give the class once a month. Since the Chaplain is new, he attended the class, while I taught this time. After letting everyone go to lunch, I had them meet me at the Korean War Museum and gave them a tour of the place. That's me in the white colored shirt and blue jeans, fourth from the right. The new chaplain is the guy all the way on the right.
tn_DSC02609.JPG
As soon as everyone else got off work, Kim, Fornillos, McGraw, and me all changed and headed to a restaurant called Kahunaville. Here is Kim. He found a coupon for 40% off the meal, which was awesome, but there is more about that, which I'll explain in just a second.

tn_DSC02610.JPG
So anyway, we catch a taxi and tell him to take us to Kahunaville, but apparently the guy has no idea where he is going. I was the only one who knew where it was at, so I tried to tell the guy where to go, but he wouldn't listen and insisted to Kim that he knew where the place was at. Well he drove right by the place and kept on going, so I just told him to stop the taxi and let us out. We had to walk about half a mile to the place. When we got there they didn't have any seats available, so we had to wait. We killed some time in the arcade room until they called our name.

tn_DSC02611.JPG
Here's McGraw playing G.I. Joe and trying to kill some guys.

tn_DSC02620.JPG
The name of the place was Kahunaville. It's a sort of Hawaiian themed place.

tn_DSC02612.JPG
So we sit down and order our food and they bring it out to us with these cool decorations on it. Everything was great.....except for one thing.

tn_DSC02615.JPG
After we eat we get our bill, and the total is $160.00!!! We asked the waiter about the 40% discount we gave them, but they said that it is only good for Mondays and wednesdays, even though it said that nowhere on the coupon. So then Kim says he doesn't have any money on him. I had to pay $100 for our two meals Needless to say we won't eat at that place again, or at least only on Mondays or Wednesdays. Geez.

tn_DSC02622.JPG
They had a little souvenier shop on the way out, so we tried on some of the odd hats they had. Here is Fornillos.

tn_DSC02623.JPG
...and me

tn_DSC02624.JPG
....Kim (dork)

tn_DSC02626.JPG
...and McGraw.

tn_DSC02658.JPG
Other than the price, everything was pretty good. By the time we got back I was pretty tired. But we still had time to play a little Medal of Honor. I had brought home the projector from work home with me and we hooked my X-Box up to it. We were killing each other on an 80 inch screen. It was awesome.

Well, Maxwell left today. he was the only real good friend that I had left here. I'll miss you Max! be sure to write me once in a while. Dirka Dirka. For anyone interested in visiting Maxwell's blog you can see it by clicking HERE

tn_DSC02594.JPG
As I helped out Max, carry his huge suitcase out to the taxi so he could get to the airport, he gave me this. It's candy. Actually it's honey. What they do is, stretch the honey 500,000 times until it gets stretched so many times and gets to this that it looks like string. Then they roll it up and you can eat it. It's a lot like cotton candy. It was pretty good.

tn_DSC02595.JPG
Today I taught a few classes to all of the Chaplain Assistant's in Area II today. Jung also taught 2 classes on Korea. We have training once every week.

tn_DSC02596.JPG
After the training, I went to lunch. They around 2, the Chaplain asked me to drive him up the mountain near Seoul Tower so that he could say a prayer for a soldier who was retiring after 20 years of service in the military. I took this poctire of Seoul Tower up there. The humidity and heat make the smog pretty bad. As you can see the haze and smog were pretty bad today.

tn_DSC02601.JPG
This is my new Chaplain. His name is Avrohom Horovitz and he is one of only 7 jewish Chaplain's in the Military. How I get stuck with all of the non-mainstream Chaplain's, I don't know. Here he is saying goodbye to SSG Clark after her retirement ceremony up on Namsan mountain.

tn_DSC02584.JPGWelcome to probably the most boring day of the year for me, New Horizon's Day. Where we sit in a room from 7:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. and watch movies about safety and get to listen to lectures and briefings from various people about safety issues in Korea. Oh, what fun!

tn_DSC02587.JPG
See. I told you it was fun. Why just look how much fun I'm having. I think I'm having so much fun that if I was having any more fun I just would be able to stand it.

Yes, that is the extend of my day. I literally was there all day long. After I got off work I went for a 9.5 mile run. I thnk I was just glad to be out of that room! Hopefully something more interesting happens tomorrow at least.

Today we said goodbye to SGT Yoo. he finally finished his mandatory 2 years in the Korean Army, and is now a civilian again. SGT Yoo will be missed. Dirka Dirka Yoo!

tn_DSC02580.JPG
I made some images of me bungee jumpinf for all of you too. Sorry they are crappy looking, but I was taking a picture of a video.

tn_DSC02582.JPG
This is me just leaping off of the tower.
I love Bungee Jumping. I'd definetely love to do it again sometime. Maybe I can get Sherry to go with me next time and jump.

Welcome

Hey, sorry for making you all change your address. I ran out of room on my last blog. However, it will still be up so that you can go back and se all the great stuff I've done since my early days here in Korea. I've got quite a few days to catch up on, so give me a few days to get all the updates up. Talk to you all later. Bye bye!

P.S.- Here is the old link to make it easier for you all THE OLD WEB PAGE

Today I went bungee jumping for the first time in my life.

tn_DSC02524.JPG
I have about 5 or 6 things that I want to do before I die, and bungee jumping was one of those things on my list. Well, today I finally got to check that one off. Here we are heading on the bus to the city.

tn_DSC02525.JPG
McGraw came with us. He didn't jump though. Of everyone who went, he was the only one who didn't do it. It's OK though. He took some good pictures and videos of us falling.

tn_DSC02527.JPG
Kim came along and brought his new "female friend." Well, whatever he calls her, she is definetely an upgrade from his last psychotic, cult-worshiping, evil girlfriend.

tn_DSC02533.JPG
Just another odd sign I happened to see while we were on the bus.

tn_DSC02534.JPG
This Korean dude wanted to take a picture of me for some reason, so I let him. He thought I was a celebrity or something. I get that sometimes. It's kind of funny.

tn_DSC02535.JPG
Here is Kim's friend with a friend she brought along with her. It's common for women to hold hands together in public over here. The first time I saw it, I thought there were a lot of Lesbians in Korea, but it's just one of their traditions.

tn_DSC02538.JPG
There is the tower that we jumped from. It was 175 feet high.

tn_DSC02539.JPG
We got about half way up the tower and they loaded us in these harnesses.

tn_DSC02542.JPG
This is Kim after his jump. I only have a vidoe of me jumping and I can't put it on here, so sorry.

tn_DSC02545.JPG
We had some guy take a group photo of us. I was the only one with wet legs. Everyone else stopped before they hit the water, but I guess the guy didn't get the length of the bungee right.

tn_DSC02568.JPG
After we got back, Fernillios and Balanon invited me to go to an Indian food restaurant with them.

tn_DSC02571.JPG
The food was really good. It was also a buffet, which is really hard to find in Korea. The food was a little spicy, but I love it.

tn_DSC02575.JPG
On our way back I was looking in some of the shops and stores for some jewelry for my wife and found the world's ugliest pair of shoes. They had 3 colors to choose from, but the green was the ugliest by far.

July 16, 2005

churchsign.jpg
I sent this picture to my wife today. I didn't really do this. I found it on the web and it lets you add your own sentences to it. It was still pretty cool though I thought.

tn_DSC02522.JPG
last night I put a load of laundry in the dryer before we left to go drinking. Well, I forgot about them all night long. When I went downstairs the dryer was still on. It never shut off and had been on all night long. When I took my clothes out, I found one of my socks. Here it is next to a regular sized sock of mine. Anyone have any small children who needs a practically new pair of socks?

tn_DSC02523.JPG
This is sooo amazing!!! See that! That's an actual roll of toilet paper. A few days ago, yu may remember the joke I had played on my roommate. Well, aparently he finally needed to take a dump and got some toilet paper. Mark this day on yout calendar people. Jung finally got a roll of toilet paper for the bathroom.

tongue.jpg
I saw this picture today and put it on here. I definetely had enough Soju last night. I think some soldiers actually live a full year over here on the stuff. It's pretty tasty though.
